6 Ways to Style Mules this Spring
Earlier this month, Fortress of Inca sent over this beautiful pair of Michelle mules in Sand. I was a little nervous about having a white/bone color pair of shoes, but I knew it would be the perfect addition to my closest. Since I got them, I’ve been wearing them every single day, and I’m so stunned at how versatile they are. A close friend of mine asked how to style a mule without it feeling “fancy” or too dressy, because the small heel definitely inspires an elevated look. I wanted to put together a single guide on how I’ve been styling this shoe this season and how easy it is to change your look with this shoe with the right styling.
I must say, this pair of shoes is SO comfortable, doesn’t cause any foot fatigue, and is so easy to clean. I’ve gotten some little dirt or mud patches on the white leather and it’s so easy to get a cloth with some warm water and lightly wipe it off. Then I let it air/sun dry for a little bit and they’re as good as new.
This blog post isn’t sponsored, I genuinely love Fortress of Inca and their ethos and this pair of shoes and wanted to share.

Michelle Mule in Sand wearing a size 40. The shoes are pretty true to size.
I’d wear this outfit working from a coffee shop if I’m in an out of meetings all day, or meeting with a new client, working on a project. I love the oversized fit of this shirt because it’s great to tie for a more young and fun look, or button up and tuck in for a more professional look.
Spring Day Out
I’d wear this if I was out with some girlfriends grabbing lunch, heading to a coffee date with a friend, or just a day out and about in the city.
Wearing a floral blouse from Forever New, tucked into my St Agni skirt. Also holding this super cute Petit Leather Bag that’s currently sold out from St Agni, but if you’re on their email list, they’ll let you know when it’s back in stock.
The biggest thing I look for in an outfit when I’m heading to a networking event or a large social event, is comfort. Because I’m often going to be socially uncomfortable and nervous meeting new people, there’s no reason to also feel awkward about what I’m wearing or feeling anxious. This look is equally professional and comfortable.
Wearing Everlane Wide Leg in Ochre (size 6) and St Agni Linen top I bought at their sample sale, paired with the Petit Tan bag.
Happy Hour Look
This is for the “lazy” friend who likes to show up to happy hour for one drink, and then head home! It’s a nice classy look but still comfortable. For a tighter look, you can add a belt to your slip to make it a little more shaped.
Wearing St Agni white slip and this orange cardigan I’ve had for about 8 years.
If you’re a guest to a wedding but don’t want to wear heels (outdoor weddings with grass are the worst nightmare for a pointed heel), this outfit combo is perfect. This dress is classy and comfortable, super flattering, and dresses up the mules really well.
This is what I’d wear if I need to make a quick grocery trip, head to the post office, go thrifting etc. I really prefer wearing neutral tops and this skirt is super flattering, although a little short from a dryer incident. Easy to swap out a nicer shirt for a cute picnic or coffee date, or add a cardigan for a little more warmth.
Wearing a thrifted denim skirt and a Jungmaven hemp tee.
What are your favorite ways to wear your mules? I’ll be sharing more of my favorite looks this season paired with these shoes!
